The Living
Laboratory

Every zone across 100 acres is a research plot. Every sensor is a data point. Every season produces insights that no single-purpose lab could generate.

Data Infrastructure

What We Measure

Four interconnected data streams feed into a unified, open-source research platform.

01

Environmental Monitoring

40–60 IoT sensor nodes tracking soil moisture, temperature, humidity, light levels, wind speed, and barometric pressure across all 100 acres. Data collected every 60 seconds across 12 rotating ecosystem zones.

Key Metrics
Soil moisture & pH
Air temperature & humidity
Light PAR levels
Wind speed & direction
02

Machine Vision Species ID

AI-powered cameras identify pollinator species in real-time, mapping flight paths, plant preferences, and visitation frequency. Training on 50,000+ labeled images from on-site data across Central Florida's diverse bee populations.

Key Metrics
Species identification
Flight path mapping
Visitation frequency
Behavioral patterns
03

Pollen & Nectar Analysis

Systematic collection and laboratory analysis of pollen loads, nectar sugar concentrations, and bioactive compound profiles across all blooming species on the 100-acre property.

Key Metrics
Pollen composition
Nectar sugar concentration
Bioactive compounds
Seasonal variation
04

Crop Nutrition Correlation

HPLC analysis linking specific pollinator activity to measurable changes in crop taste, nutritional density, and bioactive content. The first systematic study of its kind at this scale.

Key Metrics
Nutrient density profiling
Flavor compound analysis
Pollinator–nutrition correlation
A/B proximity testing
